Information we collect

Personal information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash, so we cannot read it.

Contract data

You can upload contracts (PDF or DOCX) for analysis. Your file is read inside your own browser and never reaches our servers — the text inside it is sent to us, and on to the AI service provider that writes your review. We keep the review we produce for you, along with any follow-up questions you ask about it, until you delete them.

Usage data

We collect the basic information needed to run the service, such as your IP address and how many reviews you have used this month. We do not use analytics or tracking tools.

Cookies

We use only the essential cookies that keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can refuse cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to sign in without them.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect in the following ways:

• To run Clause Shepherd and keep it working.
• To produce the AI review of the documents you upload.
• To tell you about your account, and about changes to the service.
• To provide customer support.
• To make the service better and to fix things that break.
• To follow the law and to uphold our terms.

How we share your information

We never sell or rent your information. We only pass it on in these situations:

• Companies that help us run Clause Shepherd — the firms that host the site, store the data, and run the AI review. They may only use your information to do that work for us.
• When the law requires it — for example, if a court or another public authority makes a lawful request.
• If the business changes hands — if Clause Shepherd is ever sold or joins another company, your information may move with it.

Data storage and security

We use sensible security measures so that your information cannot be seen, changed, shared or deleted by anyone who should not have it. Contracts are never stored: the file stays on your device, and the text taken from it is thrown away as soon as your review is ready.

No system on the internet is perfectly safe, though, so we cannot promise your data can never be reached.

Your data protection rights

Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask us to do the following:

• Access — send you a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Correction — fix anything that is wrong or missing.
• Deletion — delete the information we hold about you.
• Limiting use — stop using your information in certain ways.
• Objecting — hear your objection to how we use your information.
• Moving your data — hand your information to you, or send it to another company.

You can do several of these yourself from your account settings: export your reviews, delete any single review, or delete your account. For anything else, contact us using the details in section 7.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We might update this Privacy Policy in the future. We will keep you posted if any changes are made to this policy.
