Introduction

Clause Shepherd ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI powered contract review service. You give us a contract and we give you back a risk score, a plain English summary, and the clauses we think are worth your attention. We flag the risks we find — we do not read out every clause in the document.

These terms apply alongside our Privacy policy, which explains how we handle your information, and the Data processing agreement you accept when you create an account.

Services

Clause Shepherd offers the following services:

• Upload a contract in PDF or DOCX format for review.
• AI generated findings on individual clauses, with risky terms flagged.
• Follow up questions about any finding.
• Download a finished review as a PDF, or export all of your reviews at once from your settings.
• Create a link that lets anyone you send it to read one of your reviews. You can set it to expire, and you can switch it off at any time.

Your plan sets how many reviews you can run each month. Once you reach that number we cannot run another review for you until your allowance resets, which happens at the start of each calendar month.

User responsibilities

As a user of our services, you agree to:

• Give us correct details when you set up your account.
• Stay within the law when you use Clause Shepherd.
• Only upload documents you are allowed to share with us.
• Do not upload sensitive personal data, such as health or religious information, unless you have a proper reason to.
• Do not use Clause Shepherd, or the share links it creates, to distribute anything unlawful or to send unsolicited messages.

Account security

Keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has been in your account. If your account is used by someone else because it was not kept safe, we cannot be held responsible for what happens.

AI generated content

Clause Shepherd uses artificial intelligence to analyze contracts and generate findings. This analysis is for information only and is not legal advice.

It is not a substitute for review by a qualified lawyer, and no attorney and client relationship is created by your use of our services. You remain responsible for any decisions you make based on our analysis.

Intellectual property

Clause Shepherd owns the service itself: the software we wrote, the databases behind it, our name and logo, and the writing and artwork on this site. A few parts are licensed to us by other people. Either way, all of it is protected by copyright and trademark law.

This does not cover your contracts or the reviews we generate from them. Those remain yours, and the contract file itself never reaches us at all — it is read inside your own browser.

Limitation of liability

We work hard to keep Clause Shepherd accurate and running, but we cannot promise it will always be right, or always be online.

We are not responsible for any loss you suffer from using Clause Shepherd. That includes anything that happens because you acted on what our AI told you.

Termination

We can pause or close your account at any time, and we do not have to warn you first. We would normally only do this if you break these terms or misuse the service.

You can close your own account whenever you like, from your settings. When you do, your profile, your reviews, your share links and your login are deleted, and copies held in backups are cleared within 30 days. Download anything you want to keep before you close the account.

Refund policy

You can cancel within 14 days of joining any paid plan and receive a full refund of what you paid. After that, and unless the law requires otherwise, subscription fees are non refundable.
